The American Jewish Community Should Knight Norman Podhoretz:

This book is immensely topical. Here we have the Israeli interception of Turkish "peace mission" ships, and outrage from New York to London to Istanbul to Riyadh to the UN. The Obama Administration, an administration voted in by +75% of American Jews, by chiding Israel, in essence sides with the terrorist-sponsored "peace" mission. A Great Attempt!:

I want to hold on to this book as it contains a great deal of important history on Jews in general & most importantly, comes as close as is humanly possible to actually answering the question ("only God knows!"). Don't Let a Neo-Con - Even a Jewish Neo-con - Define a Liberal:

Caveat first: I've read several reviews on this book, but not the book itself. I do not want to give my money to support Podhoretz or his chutzpadik views in any way, shape or form. This premise of this book infuriates me. Podhoretz claims that Jews became liberals (in a sarcastic nutshell) because our immigrant ancestors were so happy being communists, that "liberal" flowed naturally from it, and so now we remain it without question. Arguing the "Torah of Liberalism":

Why are Jews Liberal? "Why is the Pope Catholic?" was my thought as I began the book. Mr. Podhoretz, in the rather academic, rabbinical tradition of arguing the ancient Torah, points out that most American Jews are nonpracticing and now live by the "Torah of Liberalism" without examining the reality of the negative results, both for society in general and Judaism in particular.
